during the 7th Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology (Y4IT) held on September 9, 2009 at UP Diliman, QC.

Hon. Sen. Chiz Escudero, Dr. Jimmy Caro, my fellow educators, our dear students, ladies and gentlemen, good morning.

Welcome to the 7th Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology (Y4IT). It is a pleasure to be part of this big event in Information Technology in the country today. Seeing many people attending here today just shows that there is a need for a convergence of people sharing ideas and experiences in IT.

This gathering is intended to give you the new perspective on the current trends, innovations and career opportunities in Information and Communications Technology. This congress is likewise a venue for discovering and evaluating the new technologies that will impact our lives. Latest topics in the world of communication and computing are lined up. This is coupled with exhibits, games, robotics contest, Techonlogy Jobs expo (T/EX) by itprosasia.com and a Mini-DevCon or Mini-Developers Connect by PSIA.

The organizers, the University of the Philippines Information Technology Training Center (UPITTC), UP System IT Foundation (UPSITF) and the Student Volunteer Corps (SVC), in cooperation with the Computing Society of the Philippines and the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators, made this congress possible for all of you here today. And I am thankful to those who worked day and night and went out of their way, to ensure the success of this annual gathering.

It is my hope that you all will maximize your time here by attentively listening to the presentations and participating in the discussions and activities. Also, I encourage you to visit the exhibits and get to know new products and development in the country and around the world.

And lastly, let us make this congress a venue for meeting old friends, renewing acquaintances and making new friends. With this, we are confident that at the end of the congress, you will learn something, and your databank of knowledge will be enriched so that when you go back to your respective places or when you pursue a higher aim in life, you are better prepared.

Again, welcome and may you have a fruitful and memorable congress ahead. Good morning.
