Davao ICT Summit 2009

Davao City is among the 2008 Top 10 Philippine IT-BPO Destinations having been ranked by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) Number 4 out of 37 Philippine cities in the 1st BPO Summit last December of 2008. Despite this seemingly enviable position, Davao City has only 1% market share versus total industry. In order to fully realize our city’s potential and the industry’s target, ICT Davao Inc has organized an event called ICT Summit 2009 with its theme Roadmap 2015: Empowering Davao through Information and Communications Technology on August 6 and 7, 2009 at the Davao Convention Center Ballroom A located at F. Torres St., Davao City. The event will bring together local and national government, industry and its suppliers, academe teaching professionals, potential investors, IT entrepreneurs and other ICT stakeholders in the sectors of contact center solutions, transcriptions, software development and creative service providers.

Day 1 of the ICT Summit on August 6, 2009 is by invitation only and will feature plenary sessions that talk about the next wave cities, the Philippines and Davao’s outsourcing outlook, and will become the springboard for the completion of Davao’s medium term development plans for the ICT ecosystem to include talent development, infrastructure development, cost competitiveness and business environment and risk management.

Day 2 of the ICT Summit on August 7, 2009 will feature the Convergence 2009 program where breakout sessions of the government track shall highlight key CICT programs/projects like the Community, eCenter Program, BizSpark, Service Science Management and Engineering, eSkwela, iSchools, Creative Content Development Project, Nettop ng Bayan, eLGU, eBayad and eSerbisyo. The BPO Jobs caravan track sessions will include education and career talks, voice and non-voice job simulation, job fair and career assessment and site tours.

I was invited to be one of the panelists under the BPO track session on Aug 7, 2007 at 2:00 – 3:00 pm on the topic “IBM Academic Initiative - Service Science, Management, and Engineering (SSME)”. SEE YOU ALL.
