Most Outstanding ITE Student(s) - Region XI

IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES for
THE PSITE OUTSTANDING ITE GRADUATE AWARD

A. PURPOSE OF THE AWARD

  The PSITE Outstanding ITE Graduate Award,
together with a medal provided by the
Philippine Society of Information Technology
Educators, is given yearly to recognize and
reward deserving students from PSITE member
institutions for their outstanding achievements.
B. WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE AWARD
  This award is open to graduating ITE students 
of PSITE member institutions.
C. SELECTION CRITERIA
The following criteria shall be used in the evaluation:
  1.ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE 40% 
a. General Weighted 30%
b. Awards/Recognitions 10%
2.EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 45%
a. Membership in Organizations 10%
b. Participation in Seminars/Workshops 10%
c. Leadership Qualities 10%
d. Community Service 10%
e. Sports Activities 5%
3.RESEARCH/THESIS 15%
a. Research projects 6%
b. Thesis 9%
D. SELECTION PROCEDURE
  Department Chairmen and College Deans of PSITE 
member institutions may submit nominations to
the PSITE Awards Committee through the PSITE
Regional President. After the evaluation process,
the Committee will recommend the awardees to the
PSITE National Board for approval.
E. DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH NOMINATIONS
  Nomination documents to be submitted in two (2)
copies to the PSITE Awards Committee through
the PSITE Regional President shall include the
following:

1.Nomination letter citing the outstanding
qualities or accomplishments of the nominee
based on the criteria listed in Part C.
2.Curriculum Vitae of nominee.
3.Certificates of membership in organizations.
4.Certificates of attendance in seminars/
workshops/ competitions.
5.For research work, the nature and extent of
involvement of the nominee should be
specified.
6.Full paper should be given.
7.Other information that could assist the
Committee assess the qualifications of the
nominee.
8.A one-page summary suitable for use as a
citation in case the nominee is selected for
the award.
F. DEADLINE
  Nominations, including supporting documents 
should be submitted to the PSITE Awards Committee
through the PSITE Regional President on before
February 28, 2008.
G. DATE OF AWARD
  There will be at most one awardee per PSITE 
member institution. The award will be given
during their Commencement Exercises.

ANNEX A

Selection Criteria Guidelines
1. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE 40%
  a. General Weighted Average 30% 
Average from the first semester of first year
College to the first semester or penultimate
semester before graduation.
Range:
GWA of 1.20 and above = 30 points
GWA of 1.45 to lower than 1.20 = 24 points
GWA of 1.75 to lower than 1.45 = 18 points
GWA of 2.00 to lower than 1.75 = 12 points
Cut-off score is 2.00.
Grades not to be included in the GWA computation
are: ROTC, PE, Social Orientation.

b.Awards/Recognitions 10%
Awards from local and national academic
contests.
Each award = 2.5 points
Maximum of 10 points.

2.EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 45%
Extra-curricular activities involve participating
or organizing programs or projects, which are
academic and school-related like student
council,student organizations, sportsfest,
foundation day,book fair, science exhibits, etc.
a.Membership in Organizations 10%
Membership in international
organization=3pts
Membership in national organization=3 points
Membership in local/school organization=4pts
b.Participation in Seminars/Workshops 10%
Each seminar/workshop=2pts
Maximum of 10 points.
c.Leadership Qualities 10%
Each organized activity=2pts
Maximum of 8 points.
Officer of an organization=2pts
d.Community Service 10%
Measures the involvement of the student in
community work, done voluntarily or
independent of the school or done in
connection with the school’s extension
services.
The indicators of performance are as
follows:
- Commitment to serve
- Frequency of participation
- Nature of participation (organizer,
coordinator,participant)
Outside of school=6pts
Each participation=2pts
School activity=4pts
Each participation=1pnt
e.Sports Activities 5%
Membership in regional/national team=3pts
Membership in school varsity team=2pts

3.RESEARCH/THESIS 15%
a. Research projects 6%
Each project = 2pts
b. Thesis 9%
Quality of thesis = 6 pts
Participation and involvement = 3 pts
