III. Discussion of the Agenda

A. On the proposed change of IT Programming date.

Dr Gamboa proposed to increase the number of teams per participating school from one to two. The increase in the number of participants requires additional computer facilities, thus Dr Gamboa further proposed to change the date of the IT Programming Contest from December 5, 2007 to December 8, 2007 to avail of another computer laboratory in Ateneo de Davao Universiy The body approved of the proposal. The body allowed the students of University of Immaculate Conception and Ateneo de Davao University who joined in the national computer programming contest to join the IT Programming Contest on December 8, 2007. All teams must be reminded to attend the morning practice session on December 8, 2007 at the same venue.

B. On IT Quiz Bowl.

The IT Quiz Bowl will be on December 6, 2007, 1pm-3pm at the NCCC Mall Activity Area. The emcees/quizmasters for the quiz bowl are Norlan and Belle. All participating schools must submit questions for the competition. Each school must submit 10 easy type questions, 10 average type questions and 10 difficult type questions.

The deadline for the submission of the list of participants per school and the registration fee payment for the IT Programming Contest and IT Quiz Bowl is on or before November 26, 2007.

C. On IT Conference.

The body changed the term “Congress” in IT Congress to “Conference” to conform to the type of gathering. The IT Congress will be on December 7, 2007, 8am-7pm at the NCCC Convention Hall. The registration fee for the conference is P500 which includes 2 meals and 2 snacks. The conference is open to all 1st to 4th year college IT students. A school may send an undergraduate student or a student who has already graduated to present at least one research output for presentation to the conference.

The body questioned the registration fee which may be too large for a student to pay. Dr Gamboa responded that he received no comments regarding the amount of the registration fee from PSITS during their meeting.

PSITE / CDITE will be paying NCCC P120,000 for the use of their facilities but the group will be able to raise at least P300,000 if there will be at 3,000 participants paying at P500 each. Belle proposed that booths can be set up to allow colleges and universities to showcase their schools high school students. Booths can also be offered to interested sponsors like Cybercity, Link 2 Support and other call center groups with bases in Davao City. To generate fund, the booth rental will be at P3000-P4000 day which is normally priced at P1200-P2000 per day. The booth exhibition will be open with a payment of P5 to all 4th year high school students. The schools may showcase not only IT programs but all programs of the schools. Powerpoint presentations and distribution of school brochures are also encouraged. PSITE and CDITE will also have a booth exhibiting the difference between CS, IT, IS and IM programs.
